We are so proud of our Y9 dancers who have won the KS3 Dance Festival and the "School's Choice Award". This nomination was made by their fellow students from other schools which makes the Award so special.
Y8 student Kyle Parr is a member of Leigh Boxing Club and has been crowned England Schoolboys’ National Champion for the 2nd time. Kyle goes to Birmingham to train with the England Schoolboys squad and hopes to be selected for the European Championships. We are extremely proud of Kyle and wish him every success in his future boxing career!
Congratulations to Y8 student, Keoni Hamilton who attended a Wigan Athletic home match to be presented with his Entry Level 3 qualification in Business and Enterprise. Keoni met Jonathan Jackson (Chief Executive) on the pitch at half-time where he received his certificate.
Westleigh High School’s Sports Day took place on Thursday 23 June 2016 and a wonderful afternoon was enjoyed by all!
Mr Killen asked students to ‘surprise him’ when he set a piece of History project homework. Students had to think about a specific historical moment and create a piece of project work which reflected that moment and be able to give a presentation about it to their classmates.
Mrs Powell organised a team of students and staff to compete in the Race for Life event at Pennington Flash on Sunday 5 June 2016.
On Tuesday 14 June Mr Ryan and a group of Year 8 students attended the Bloodhound Project at Manchester Metropolitan University The “Bloodhound Project” is an engineering, science and technology event where students have the opportunity to look at topics such as forces, speed, velocity and product design. On the day, students attended workshops aimed at developing knowledge and skills around these specialised topics. Students were also required to build a rocket car and came 3rd overall in the competition! It was a fun day and extremely enjoyable for all involved.
Our BTEC Dancers were asked by Wigan Council to help promote The Deal initiative in Leigh Town Centre recently. Our students put on a great show and made a fantastic impression on everyone in the Town Centre that day!
Oscar Night was yet again another huge success! Over 300 parents turned up to see the students walk down the red carpet.
